This USB4 40Gbps cable (M/M) transmits across two bidirectional lanes, supporting speeds up to 40 Gbps, which is eight times faster than USB 3.0. Supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode for Unidirectional 80 Gbps Video Connections
By connecting a 4K or 8K display to a host device that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode 1.4, this cable can use both high-speed lanes to transmit 4K or even 8K video at 60 Hz in one direction at 80 Gbps maximum speed. The U520-31N supports a single 8K display or dual 4K displays at 60 Hz.

Backward Compatible with Legacy USB and Thunderbolt 3 Devices
Though both connected devices must support USB4 40Gbps for the cable to reach its full potential, the U520-31N is backward compatible with USB 3.x, USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3 devices. It connects two USB-C devices, including MacBooks, Chromebooks, Windows laptops, smartphones, external hard drives, tablets, docking stations and wall chargers. It is compatible with all USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 devices, enabling use in existing installations while preparing for future upgrades.
