Santa is lovingly called Julenisse in Norway. The Norwegian children leave a bowl of rice porridge with sugar, cinnamon and butter as a thank you. Julenisse is known as a mischievous but gift-bearing Norse spirit. Traditionally the nisse spirit is responsible for the care and prosperity of a farm.
